The Role
The Senior Marketing Manager (Music Tech) is responsible for managing their own client projects, whilst also supporting the Head of Growth in the management and mentorship of other team members, ensuring we deliver best-in-class strategy and services that drive results for clients. We are looking for a strategic thinker who understands that growth marketing is a interconnected system. You will be responsible for not only managing projects and channels, but also driving measurable business growth for clients. The ideal candidate is a data-driven growth marketer with a strong leadership mindset, technical expertise, full funnel experience and a passion for music marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Work closely with the Head of Growth to develop the team and ensure excellent service to clients.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members, ensuring their professional growth and success.
- Manage key clients and support team members with strategy and execution on projects.
- Help oversee the day-to-day operations and performance of the music tech marketing team.
Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute full-funnel paid marketing strategies across Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Reddit, and other platforms.
- Oversee budget allocation with the team, ensuring optimal return on investment.
- Identify and implement scalable growth opportunities, leveraging data and performance insights.
- Optimise campaigns through A/B testing, audience segmentation, and creative iteration.
- Collaborate with the creatives to develop compelling ad assets that maximise engagement and conversion.
- Stay ahead of trends in growth marketing, paid media, and digital advertising within the music and entertainment sectors.
Technical Implementation & Tracking
- Set up and manage ad platform conversion tracking and events, including Meta and Google tracking pixels.
- Support the implementation of Google Tag Manager containers and dataLayer events to ensure accurate performance tracking.
- Knowledge of product feed systems and problem solving across Google Merchant Centre and Meta’s Commerce Manager.
Ecommerce & CRM Integration
- Build out lifecycle marketing systems that take into account holistic business goals and acquisition strategies.
- Work with eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Woocommerce) to integrate marketing channels and optimise the customer journey.
- Ensure accurate product feed management in Google Merchant Centre and Meta Product Catalogues.
- Collaborate with clients on CRM growth initiatives, including signup forms, automations, and basic lifecycle marketing.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Support team members in a leadership capacity across their respective projects, extending the value clients receive.
- Act as a primary point of contact for key clients, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring transparency, trust, and long-term success.
- Deliver clear, data-driven reports and presentations on campaign performance, insights, and next steps.
Innovation & Industry Awareness
- Stay informed of emerging platforms, tools, and technologies in the growth marketing and eCommerce space.
- Proactively propose new ideas, channels, and tactics to help clients reach their growth objectives.
- Contribute to Motive Unknown’s collective knowledge by sharing learnings and best practices with the wider team.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in performance marketing / growth marketing. Proven track record scaling through performance channels in-house or with an agency.
- Understanding of “systems thinking” and holistic growth strategies to drive client results.
- Experience managing direct reports, including mentoring, coaching, and overseeing workflow.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop team members.
- Experience managing six-figure budgets and scaling paid media campaigns profitably.
- Deep understanding of varying analytics software, conversion tracking, attribution models, and performance measurement.
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, audience segmentation, and data-driven optimisation.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies for clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with CRM systems and customer lifecycle marketing strategies. Bonus if you can explain how you’ve developed a CRM system build previously.
- Understanding of different business models (Ecommerce, Subscription, mobile app) will be very useful.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience of direct management of other team members.
- Experience working with other paid social platforms (TikTok Ads, Snapchat Ads, Reddit Ads, Twitter Ads).
- Experience managing and optimising Google Shopping feeds and Facebook Product Catalogues.
- Knowledge of dynamic ecommerce campaigns and remarketing strategies.
- Basic video editing or graphic design skills (Photoshop, Canva).
- Experience conducting test-and-learn plans to inform long-term growth strategy.
